I associate the flat works that I produce with origins. My conceptual starting point is always a sketch. Thought externalized on paper. I am interested in pulling those ideas up and out, ending up with things like an oil painted cootie catcher, but there is something to be said for simplicity; something for delight in the illusion of depth achieved by a 2D imposter. Below are some works that were resolved in their natural dimension.
